Ruby Red Dragonets Mating

Just wanted to share some video from my Ruby Red Dragonets mating. I finally got around to editing it last night, and it's my first time editing a gopro video, so let me know what you think! There were no eggs this night, however the female released eggs for the first time on Jan 14.

I would like to give breeding a try at some point over the Summer, when I have more time.

Congrats, and even better you caught it on video. This past fall I caught my Red Scooters and Target Mandarins spawning at the same time. But they waited till the tank lights were blue and dimming.

A few weeks ago I caught the Target mandarins getting ready to spawn again. But once the camera came out they got shy.

That's great that yours stayed right in the center of the camera shot for the most part.

Congrats again.

That is so sweet. Congratulations, Sam! Your husbandry must be great!

Sam, what else do you have in your tank? Just wondering if they feel comfortable in your tank because there are no larger fish around...

Awesome! I've only seen mine mate a handful of times, but I've never caught it on video. I've also not been able to capture any eggs as of yet. Good luck with breeding them!

Very neat and congrats. Still a while from dragonets so I'll enjoy your success in the meantime.

Thanks all! I actually go this by hanging my gopro in the water where I thought the spawning was going to happen, changing my lights so that the white was on at 1% as opposed to the normal blue dimming, and then just leaving it. Came back two hours later to about 90 minutes of video of their "extracurricular activities".

Thanks! There honestly wasn't much to it, just a very mature tank before these were ever added. Added the male a year before the female. Biweekly water changes, twice daily feedings (the male eats frozen when it floats by him).

Stock list is:
Pair of O. Clowns
White Tail Tang
Lyretail Anthias Trio
Flameback Angel
Ruby Red Pair
Candy Hog
Orange Spot Blenny
Watchman Goby/Pistol Shrimp Pair
Cleaner Shrimp Pair

The pair actually get bothered alot by the White Tail and the Anthias when they're mating, but they don't seem to mind too much.
