Run two radions or just one?

Tank is a 57 rimless 36 x 18 x 21. I sent in my original gen 1 to get upgraded to a gen 3 last week. In the mean time I purchased a new G3 because I got a great deal and figured I could have one for backup or could just run two on lower settings. I have rbta's, zoas and will be stocking up on Lps and Maybe an Sps here and there if I can quit being lazy and get my water quality right.

I'm almost positive 1 radion could grow anything i wanted in this tank. What would u guys do? Run 2 at lower settings? Run one keeping other for spare or future upgrades(i just got this tank, a bigger tank would be much further down the road) or sell the upgraded one when it comes in?

That is my main issue with the radions. I have 2 over a 75 and shadowing is bad, and you simply don't get an "enveloping shroud" of light like you do with MH. I think that is why you see a lot of folks augmenting with T5. That is exactly what I am considering doing. There is another thread about T5 and LEDs right now in the club forum, and some of the guys with far more knowledge about LED lighting than me make some good suggestions in it. In your situation though, the 2 Radions with just LPS sounds like you would be fine. I am growing sps in the 75 with 2, although I have to be aware of placement.

I'm not sure how these compare to the SOLs but I run 4 over my 90 that has pretty close to the same dimensions. (36 X 24 X 24)

tried a G2pro over a 40B, even with the wide angle lenses, there was inconsistent spread. The center got blasted and it got progressively dimmer towards the ends. As mentioned above, there was some pretty wicked shadowing as well. It works great over a 20x20 frag tank with no rock, but the display really needed 2.

Depends on what your gonna keep as far as livestock. If your gonna stick with softies and a couple RBTA then just run the 1. If your gonna try and do a full mixed reef with sps and Lps and stock it from end to end then run 2 otherwise no need to run more than 1.
