Running carbon in SPS Tank

Hi, Do any of you guys run carbon in your SPS tanks, I am thinking of doing it with my 90 SPS only. Tank has deep sand beed, MH lights, 8" skimmer and putting on a Deltec reactor with bio-pellets this week. Will it keep algae issues down (I have very little), my parameters are very good and nitrates are always around 5ppm. Any other benefits or problems to running a carbon reactor.

what is an 8" skimmer ?

Carbon as of GAC, removes unwanted metals, proteins, and lowers DOCs and keeps them low. its a must in my opinion. (it also makes ure water crystal clear)
removing any yellowing from bacteria from your biopellets.

but it is not a solution to algae, the no3 and po4 are causing that.

Yes I run carbon in my tank. Carbon won't really "keep algea" down but it keeps the water clear helps, with chemical warfare, and helps remove any containment.

Hi Almost, The 8" is the body diameter of skimmer (Reef Octopus 200 XS). I have zero phosphates by my Salifert test, but will probably buy the neat Hanna Checker, I have their Alkalinity checker and its great. My nitrates are normally around 5 and have never exceeded 10 ppm.

Looking for more health on corals and do not want to use a UV unit, and I understand from BRS that UV and bio-pellets do not mix well for compatibility. I am more preventative issue mined, I guess.
