Have decided to do a small tank upgrade utlising most of my current equipment on my 4x2x2 but just improving on things.

This tank will 4x2x20" rimless 12mm starfire glass with external wier. tank will be barebottom so i can put lots of flow and suspend detritus as efficently as possible.

Sump is 105x50x45 which has 54cm frag tank incorporated in it.

Circluation will be via 3 x vortech MP40W and 2 - 4 x tunze 6045 for the DT and 2 x 6045 for the FT. Also will have a K2 in the skimmer section.
Lighing will be taken care of by 10 x 54W ATI powermodule with frag tank lighing 6 x 24W sunpower.

Skimmer is bubble pioneer BM-200

I am using dosing pumps for cal + alk mainenance.

changing tanks over gives me the oppotunity to get differnt fish, although i love my purple tang and tuka anthias there are several purple corals readily avaialble so i decided to ofload them + a few others in the tank and get the following

1 x juv yellow tang
1 x juv regal angel
1 x royal gramma
1 x green spotted mandarin
5 x randalli anthias
1 x mystery wrasse
1 x flame hawk

the stand is made from 316 SS and clad with MDF painted in red auto paint. (red is the fastest colour)
here is a pic of the stand (skimmer defunct)

I will update this thread with progress pics.

I'm looking forward to seeing the final product!
Why MDF, though? If it gets wet it will swell and fall apart.

That's a lot of flow! Beautiful stand i'm looking forward to tagging along with this build.

Can anyone Identify which Reef Octopus that is in the stand ? I got one used and cant figure out how to put it together (im being serious)

got my ATI PM yesterday and all i can say is WOW! This thing is massive, it kind of overwhelmed me, maybe the 8 bulber would have been enough :hmm1:
although it is only equipment i know you guys love pics

i have another few blue plus, special and actintic and a fiji purple to change the colour.

If it's not too late you should switch out the blue specials for the KZ new gen 14000 bulb. It's a white bulb but doesn't make the tank look yellow. I just replaced my 10 bulbs on my 10x54 p.m. and went with this combo it has a 20k look and all the corals really pop.

just got the powermodule and it came with bulbs (+ 5 spare) so i will keep them but when they are exchanged might look into the the new gen kz bulbs. in saying that tho the KZ bulbs are 25-30% more expensive in aus than ATI bulbs.

i will check to see what your colour combo is like so when i need to exchange get some ideas.

Thanks
Ryan

The light should be available from your local ATI dealer, in Aus it is reefinglife.com.au

ryanrid, you went with a 10 bulb ATI over a 48"x24"x20" tank?!?!?! How . . . I hope you don't bleach the corals.
