I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on a TV before the year is over...
please keep your eyes peeled for me!

Gonna have a reef/Sabres party after it's all set up :)

Yes Gary, that is the one sold out on line. It is also sold out through Sears. Maybe one can tell you when the next shipment will in. It's always worth the wait to get the item you want. That HDTV, I think is a good one, and worhty of the wait.

FIOS just started carrying MSG HD. I have a 52in 1080p 120hz Samsung. Best TV i have ever owned. The MSG High Def feed is pretty low end if you ask me. If and when you get a new tv and provider watch a Bruins game on the NHL network. They must have better equipment at there arena or something because there is a clear difference in quality.

Sears has LED and LCD models in the same class. So now I see... LCD to LED to plasma is the performance progression. Looks like I want LED.

LED is a type of LCD tv. It's the best, but plasma isnt far behind in picture quality. Regular LCD (non-LED) is the worst, though still great compared to non-HDTV. Plasma gives the best bang-for-the-buck because there is still a negative stigma based on problems from early generation plasmas that keep demand down, but LED is the latest and greatest.

And its worth noting that poorly made LED tvs will give a halo effect around the edge that is really distracting, which is why its so important to stick to a major brand name

We can't get FIOS in the Rochester area. Buffalo and Syracuse can, but we're left out. It's a shame really, because there are lots of people willing to dump Time Warner Internet for FIOS.

Hi Gary,
Well, I have a 46 Samsung LCD, 60hz 1080. It is about 4 yrs old, Everything is awesome on it. That was in the living room and I had a 36" tube system in the family room, Which I was confined to during Sabre games. I did get to see some games on the Samsung, so, in summer of 2010 went looking for a HDTV for the family room. Ended up putting the samsung down there, and purchased a Sharp - AQUOS / 60" Class / LED / 1080p / 120Hz / HDTV. There is no comparison. First with the four color technoogy. .it is so vivid! Second the 120hz vs the 60hz. Huge difference when watching live sports, especially hockey.
this Sharp is very nice but what does it mean with internet and WI-FI?

It means that it has built-in capability to stream netflix, vudu, and cinema now (according to the description) without using another device (like a network capable blu-ray, a ps3, or wii, etc.).

It's a nice feature if you stream netflix. I currently do the same via my blu-ray player.

I picked one but haven't purchased anything yet :spin2:

actually.. I have a number of models that I'm considering. Ironically, when I went to purchase one Tuesday night ALL TV PRICES through ALL RETAILERS had jumped back up to pre-holiday pricing. ***. It's BS. The price increase is very significant in most cases on larger flat screen TV's.
NFL wild card games start tonight and I'll be squinting at my old TV from last century.
On the flip side, when I finally pull the trigger I know I'll have made the right choice for myself, although I could probably use help from somebody that is an expert at this stuff!

Gary,
Simple solution for viewing the sabres games is.............buy season tickets. For the away games you just go to a bar. Maybe you can meet a sabres women there. I know you were hoping for a saltwater lady but it sounds like the hockey is important to you as well.

Samsung LED is the leading contender. Going to Sabres games isn't really an option although I'd like to attend at least one game this season. I've already met a Sabregirl :)

Bah, skip the Sabres fan and find a Rangers fan. Then you can enjoy going to NYC!

You'll really enjoy a new TV. I can't deal with watching non-hd anymore.
