Sabres on what flat screen TV?

Hi Gary,
Well, I have a 46 Samsung LCD, 60hz 1080. It is about 4 yrs old, Everything is awesome on it. That was in the living room and I had a 36" tube system in the family room, Which I was confined to during Sabre games. I did get to see some games on the Samsung, so, in summer of 2010 went looking for a HDTV for the family room. Ended up putting the samsung down there, and purchased a Sharp - AQUOS / 60" Class / LED / 1080p / 120Hz / HDTV. There is no comparison. First with the four color technoogy. .it is so vivid! Second the 120hz vs the 60hz. Huge difference when watching live sports, especially hockey. I have a pioneer blue ray player which is is awesome and a Sony surround sound system. Good war movie, the chopters sound like the are circling around you. The planet earth dvd, the color and sound . . just wow's everyone who stops over. Have fun shopping! Ohhh couple more things, when viewing the hdtv's at a store, do not judge them with a animation movie in. Animation movies look good on any tv. Have them put in an action movie. You will also need a HD box from TW in order to view things in HD.
I hope this helps Gary.

120HZ for sports is a plus. I had a 60Hz and now have a 120Hz, bug difference. There is still some burn in problems with plasma if you watch a lot of the same thing or play video games.

I have an 47" LG LCD and love it compared to my old Sony rear projection. I just got another 47" LG 3DTV LED today for my kids playroom. It is a nice set and cost about the same as the LCD I bought a year ago. The 3D is replacing a rear projection Pani that burned out a bulb and would have cost more to replace than a new set.

Make sure you get a 1080p if you plan on getting a BluRay the difference is definitely worth it.

Of course none of these compare to the 10ft projection system I have in the basement home theater with 7.1 sound and a rumble system in the leather recliners:)

As far as Sabre's game, if you have a good internet connection you should be able to stream the games directly to the TV has an HDMI out and it is close ot the TV.

Am I the only one with a 240 Hz television???
Scott- don't feel bad. Before I got married and had kids I was on top of all this electronics stuff but nowadays I'm in the dark ages.
Incidentally...and I don't know if this is correct.... but a salesman at the Stereo Shop in Rochester told me vinyl (records) are coming back into vogue... but I find this difficult to believe.

The bottom line is I want to watch SABRES games on TV with the best possible picture. I don't do a lot of TV watching. I don't want 1,000 channels of crap. I watch local news. Once a week I might rent a movie. I have the perfect spot for a large flat screen in my house and a TV upgrade is looong overdo here.
My last TV purchase was in 1991 :lolspin:

thanx for all the suggestions so far!

Jeez... I just scrolled through hundreds of TV sets and I've got a headache!
Another option, especially since you are looking to get a Blu-Ray player, is to get a PS3. NHL Center Ice is also available over the PS3, as is Netflix, VUDU, Hulu, and a few other video / audio services, plus it plays Blu-Rays (and games, if you're into that)
not into games but I have an XBOX sitting here. Can XBOX work like a PS3?

If I want to feed Sabres games to my existing crappy TV set what's the least expensive option?

46" Samsung LCD looks very nice. Does Samsung still offer a larger 6200 series model? The 55" appears to be discontinued. It might take some time to sort through my television options... but if I find a smokin' deal I might jump on it.

I've always had vinyl... I guess its pretty odd for a 28 year old but I like to think I was brought up right

I have vinyl too... but I only kept the imports.
However.. IMO....It makes no sense to stick with old cathode ray gun technology when it comes to TV's.

Gary, you might be interested in this blueray player. Sony BDP-BX57. @ 114.00 you'll be hard pressed to beat it.Ive had this one for 2 years now with no issues.I belive the current model # is Sony BDP-BX58,as far as I can tell anyway.
FWIW- I bought mine at Sams club whitch was over a hundred cheaper than bestbuy.
Comes Hd 1080p wifi and 3d ready, also, comes preloaded with netflix, youtube ,the hockey you were talking about ,lol. plays blueray and dvd ,2 hdmi ports ect...

I have it hooked up to 46"samsung 1080p,120hz lcd work great together.

I think you might be able to use that blueray player with your existing tv to get what you want for now,but Im not sure ,hopefuuly someone that knows could comment.

Gary,
I think the Samsung 6000 series is going to LED. Best Buy has the 55" Sumsung 55" Class/ LED / 1080p / 120Hz / HDTV.

Here ya go, Gary.

Samsung PN64D550 64-Inch 1080p 600 Hz 3D Plasma HDTV
$1661.19 delivered.

I know nothing about it but it sure sounds impressive as heck, lol.

And with that size, you have a choice of turning on your furnace or the TV when ya get cold. :P

with halides and that Samsung I won't have to kick on the furnace :lolspin:

I need 120 Hz though... and no plasma... too many reflections.

If you don't mind buying online give Newegg.com a shot. I have bought large items from them. They use Ceva Logistics as their large item shipper. Ceva has a regional hub in Neward, NJ near the Newegg warehouse and another hub in Rochester. I ordered a 47" TV Tuesday afternoon and it was delivered in Horseheads on Friday. It was in the Rochester terminal on Wednesday. That amounts to overnight or two day at the most. Free shipping on large items, you are responisible for reporting sales tax yourself:)
