Hello my name is Adam and I live in Elk Grove, a suberb of Sacramento. I am in a bind and I'm hoping that someone in the area might be willing to help me out. I'm flat broke, in fact I'm in the hole for half of last months rent and my bills are behind a bit but I'm not here to complain, I just want everybody to understand my situation. I just started a new job and I'll be caught up in a month or two but in the mean time I dont have a dime to spend. Indirectly (or directly) my fish are suffering from because of these monetary misfortunes. I am just wondering if anybody keeps an SPS tank and would be willing to let me have thier old water change water. I've heard that sps keepers generally change water when it is still suitable for a softie tank. Or if someone needs extra karma points, I would take any donations they might offer, not money, just maybe a bucket of ro/di, or a couple cups of old salt. My tank is so low its embarassing. I need a water change or at least a top off. Please Sacramento reefers, help me out.

my son is asleep, but ifr you can get out to Carmichael, I have plenty of salt and five gallons of RO for you. Pm me...

Ok dude, come to my house with buckets and I can give you about 20 gallons of new reefcrystals water. I can also give you as much RO/DI as you need along with some reef crystals salt. You just need to provide the containers. I'm in Roseville and I'll PM you my number.

I'm in Elk Grove. I have a 7kg bucket of red sea coral pro salt that i can give you, i tried it out but like seachem better. I am also doing a water change tomorrow, I do water changes weekly. You are welcome to the 10G I take out, just bring some buckets. I would give you some DI/RO water but I get it from the machine at the grocery store and don't have any stocked up. I'm off tomorrow and will be free in the evening, pm me your number and I'll give you a call.

I just hopped on RC after a full day and I fly out at 7am or I'd be on the case. If you're still in need next weekend, hit me up.

There are several members in EG. Keep an eye on this thread over the next few days, I'm sure you will find the help you need. Hang in there. Hope to see you at MARS meetings.

And congrats on the new job!

Thanks everyone, I cant believe how many people responded so quickly to help a stranger. I really appreciate it. Thanks so much. How can I get involved with MARS?

Being in the hole more than likely means he can't afford the gas to shoot up to north sac or roseville. Hopefully one of the handfull of S. Sac reefers can lend a hand and possibly be more accessable to him.

Adam,

I'll be back tomorrow night, but you're welcome to water from me, and I'm in Elk Grove. PM me your phone number.

Yup, just making the offer in case he comes up here.....

Adam: Thanks for your gratitude to our membership. In time you should find that we are a very odd, diverse, and connected community.

To answer your question:

First: Accept the assist graciously, as you have.

Second: Share your experience - and participate in any way you can -- as you have started to do...

Third: When the time comes; give back to other reefers in need.

Fourth: Officially join when you can.

Congrats on your new job.

Finally: Speaking for many of us -- It is a good thing you put your family first. Reefs are definitely representative of our fate, but without family they mean nothing.

Can I say welcome to the freakshow?

Freakshow in a good way. ( don't be scarin' the kids Kevin )

I'm in E.G.
PM me your number.

I have an rodi unit that pushes close to 100gpd, if you need any just let me know. I also do weekly water changes of close to 40g, but I don't think you should use my old water cuss it's kinda high in nitrates at the moment. I live in elk grove too, close to calvine.

Don't know how to take it, but sure, probably right.

Hope you get the help you need with the water man. Good luck.

Auntbeez.... Your dog makes me chuckle every time I see it. My family is laughing at the cuteness. Sorry for the OT.. That has to be a very happy dog.

At least he can see why someone would say. "welcome to the freakshow" ;)

Edit.... I'm in the Citrus heights area and can definitely spare some R.O. water if your in the area. At least I'm not too O.T. ha ha. Congrats on the new job.

Once you get back on your feet or whatever, I get my RO/DI water from two water stores in Sacramento, one on Keifer, another on Folsom Blvd. 50 gallons for $10 (or .50 a gallon) Not a bad price.
