Sea Turtles Love Me......
Are saddles less hardy then say percs or occ? LFS just got a couple in and they are looking a lil rough. They had gotten some in a couple weeks ago looking bad again so I did not buy and I found out later that they croaked :(. The LFS guy (who is knowlegable enough) said the supplier did not take the time and care with them origionaly that caused them to stress and die. I really want the two he has now but I will not buy for a min of a 7 days. I am worried about getting them if they make it cuz I would buy them then have to drive an hour+ back then start acclimation with would be pretty stressful.

I'd say occ are easy, percs are a little less easy and saddles are a little more challenging. They are more sensitive to the shipping stresses and more probe to brook. They also seem to be prone to eye problems like popeye. Overall, they are really cool fish.

I'd quarentine them for sure. I had a pair a couple years ago
that I had for some time and ultimately lost them in quarantine to a heater failure.

I had a pair of them many many years ago. Didn't seem any less hardy then other clowns that I have had. However, they do seem to get popeye more often then other clowns.

I bought my little saddleback about two months ago and is doing great. I love it. I wanted something different than a perc and the like. His name is "Clyde"... like a clydesdale.

He is hosting a gorgonian (flower pot- i'm gettin better with the scientific names :D ). After a couple of weeks after introducing him, he started to get a nice sized sore on his underside from rubbing back and forth on the pot's skeleton when retracted.

He has made a full recovery since, nothing was added, etc.

I got ripped originally when I bought him at one of the LFS... paid $40 for him. I went back to the same store about a month later and they had another one for sale for $18. ***!

In my experience with Saddle Clowns, they seem to be more hardy than other clown fish. I have one now in a Saddle Carpet and they have been together in my tank for a couple years. She is about 4 inches long and very beefy. I did have a bout of ich last year and she survived it. Her mate died from that ich. She also seems to be a temporary mentor to the new fish. It is quite comical.

are saddle with yellow around their pectoral fins a lil more hard to get? or is it pretty much the norm?

Mine has the yellow fins. Maybe that's why i paid $40 for her, or maybe i still just got ripped! Cool fish nonetheless... so far so good.

Thats the boat im in they want 40 each but the have yellow pec fins and yellow on their body around their pec fin and also on the tail. another store has some for 20 each but they are more the norm. I guess its all what are they worth to you but you can help but second guess.
