Saddleback Clown Temperment?

How is the temperament of Saddleback Clown when compared to the likes of the Clarkii and Cinnamon's? Also, I have found at least one retailer which will not do the guarantee on these guys because they claim they don't handle stress well, but another treats them like any other Clown. Wow difficult are these guys to keep?

Lastly, any photo's that people might have would be appreciated. I see some are mostly black but others have a lot of brown.

I have a black female with a red male. Great personality, good temperment, the female only chases fish that get a little too clse to the LTA they host in. I've read that wild caugght ones aren't super hardy at first, but the tank raised ones are just as hardy as any other clown.

Hey, this is sounding promising. :) Are many people offering tank raised Saddlebacks? It appears that ORA does, not sure if others are doing the same or not.

Charlie, your saddlebacks look great. How old are they? Any estimate to the size? They look only about 3". I'm hoping to add clowns in my 120G that aren't big like the Maroon's.

Any photos of the adults that are not black? The black look great, just wondering what the other looks like.

Hera a 4 month old pic of my pair. The black female is in the upper left, and the red/brown male is in front of the LTA

Here is a pic of just the male I took about 2 weeks ago.

Besides the color difference the blacks usually have 3 full stripes and a small "saddle" just on the top fin, the reds only have one full stripe just behind the head and a large"saddle" covering the top fin and much of the back.

some of the red/browns can get almost black, but mine varies day to day between more orange to a brown. the color in the last pic above is one of the darker days

Nice pictures, thanks for post. They both look great but I think I prefer the black. I like the yellow highlights and the larger white patches.

Have you seen any of the blacks captive breed?

I belive mine was. I got it from a LFS with another black when they were both small juveniles almost 3 years ago. they were the last 2 of abot 30 that they had. I think the store gets them from a wholesaler from Chicago called A- pet, or something like that. It was original the male of the black pair, but the female jumped. So I let it start to turn female, and then bought the red one to become the male. I got the red one from a different LFS about 6 months ago and when I got it I asked the store if it was tank bred, and they said that almost all the clowns that come from wholesalers are, I'm sure there are a few wild caught evey now and then, but I'm sure it is cheaper to get tank raised than wild caught.
