anyone have one? I have the oppurtunity to buy one around 9-10 inches long from a friend and am curious if it would eat/get along with a 4-5 inch miniatus grouper?

the miniatus may be a snack for the saddleback especially if not fed for a few days then the smaller grouper will most likely become food

I have a friend that has a 8" saddleback, 7" polleni, and 7" miniatus in a 300 together. From what I've seen of the saddleback, it is a mild temperment for a grouper. I would do it if it were me. Saddlebacks are long and narrow compared to the mini, and I'd bet that 3" of that saddleback's length is just the long yellow tail.

I was hoping you'd post those again!!! Those pics are great!

Yeah, they do get to 4' about if I remember right, and sure any grouper at that size offers a threat to something 1/20th its size!

espo72,how long did it take for him to get that big? 4' is freakin huge, the miniatus will only get around 16" correct? Yeh my friend is getting rid of it,because he added a powder blue tang after the grouper and the grouper has been giving him hell.He will be going in with with a goldentail eel 24", jeweled eel 20",pinktail trigger 5-6",clown trigger 4-5",toadfish 8-9",and the miniatus 4-5". Am i asking for trouble adding this saddleback grouper to the mix????.i plan on adding another 10 aggressive fish or so in the next year.should i put this guy in my sump, and put this guy in the tank last or should i go ahead and put him in the tank with the others?
