saddlebacks and rbta?

I really like saddleback clowns. And have also always wanted a rbta. A friend of mine said the rbta is not a natural host for the saddlebacks. Should I pick one or the other? Or will they be o.k together. I oviously want them to host whatever I put in there.

They will most likely host it...that should not be where your problem lies. The issue is that saddlebacks are notorious for being anem bullies. In the wild, they are known to go from host to host(one of, if not the only clowns that does this). I think this gives them more ability to tear up their home. I have heard of saddles killing numerous carpets, not sure about BTA's, though.

Since they usually kill their anemone by diving into it's mouth, I'd say a BTA's a fairly low risk 'nem since they keep their mouths so tight.

That's not to say that there's no risk, since they are rough as the prior poster stated.

Are they any rougher on a BTA than a maroon would be? I dunno. Personally, I think saddle clowns belong in saddle anemone's, but that's just my opinion.

Oh. I didn't know that. They seem to be the coolest looking clowns I've seen. I have a pair of ocellaris (spelling?) but I want something different. So the worry is that they will chew up the anemone? Any difference in odds between tank bred or wild? Are we still on this weekend? :)

oops someone slipped a post in between. I'll keep that in mind chupacabras. I'll take a look at saddle anem's right now.

Back when I had my pair of saddlebacks they spent most of their time in my Haddoni. However, the male would hang out in my RBTA when the misses made him sleep on the "couch". So, I feel that either one would work, and RBTA are easier to keep - IMO - or at least easier to find a healthy one.

I really do like rbta's. I want one. I have had my heart set on saddlebacks but I could find something else I suppose. Anyone else think it WOULDN'T be a problem? The anem would go in this weekend and I'm not planning on adding clowns for a few weeks still.

Granted, this is only my experience, so....

I honestly do see an issue with them going into the RBTA, yes, mine
preferred my Haddoni, but it didn't stop them from going into the RBTA, I say you should do it. Plus, like I said before, it is easier to find a healthy RBTA, and most likely you will be able to get a cloned one.

The ones my lfs were selling today were only like 4 inches tops. I'm going to wait for awhile and learn a little more.

My black saddleback hosted my RBTA fine. He was crying the day I sold the RBTA...well he seemed heartbroken, he didn't come out of a cave for two days.

My pair of Black saddlebacks hosted my RBTA in less than a day. Got the RBTA that morning, put it in the tank in the afternoon, that night the pair was hosting it.

Sure there's a chance!

here's a pic, my nem just starting to inflate after pooping.
