i am looking for a 10 - 20 gallon plastic storage container with a lid to store aged salt water for future water changes etc. any suggestions on what to buy or not to buy?

Check with a pressure washing company to see where they get their samll water containers from. I would start with that or the Home Depot or Lowes near you may also have them available.
Does your LFS sell R/O? If so ask them where they got they holding tank. Good luck.

One question for you............. why do you have or want "aged' salt water, or what do you mean by that?

well its recommended that you age your salt water atleast a couple of days so the salt fully dissolves and the ph stabalizes. i had never heard of it but i keep reading more and more about it and it makes sense to me. less stress on the fish etc.

thanks for th advice!

^^^ that is what I have always used. I even got the little casters that allow you to roll the thing around (more expensive than the can, though).

For smaller than 20 gallons, you may want to consider using 5-gallon jugs. Instead of a power head to circulate the freshly-mixed saltwater, you could use an air pump/airstone to aerate for a day. Pretty cheap. Some units have dual output lines, so you could have 2 jugs aerating simultaneously.

I plan to do the same thing for a while for our 72 (10-gallon bi-weekly changes) until we upgrade to a 150 at the end of April. At that point, I'll be doing 20 gallons bi-weekly, so we'll use the BRUTE and a Maxi-Jet 1200 powerhead.
