Sailfin Color

Have a 75 gal just fish, the sailfin is very pale most of the time, when he eats he seems to darken up as he is eating but only then. Is the fish maybe stressed because he's to big for the tank, or is he maybe just a not a very dark sailfin?

Before anyone will be able to answer your question they will need additional information. Like what other fish do you have in the tank, type of filtration, water quality (nitrate level for example) and what you are feeding.

I would say that depending on the size of the tang it maybe water quality, tank mates, size of tank, etc. but without the other information it I would only be guessing.

To start with if the fish is say 4 to 5 inches it will need at least a 6' tank 125 gallon+, if I am not mistaking that fish can reach over a foot in size.
