Salifert Ca Test

There are three phases of color change:

1. Pink - Add more drops
2. Purple - Am I done?
3. Blue - Now I'm definitely done

Do I stop when it turns purpely-blue or when it's 100% translucent light blue?

It's my opinion that it's probably less important where you stop the test and more important that you stop it at the same point every time you do the test. Ending the test at any of your 3 color points make a difference of 10 or 20 points in your calcium level. Not insignificant, but not a huge deal either. But doing the test the exact same way every time will give you a better idea if your levels are stable or going down. Consistency is the key.

To get as accurate a reading as possible add an extra drop to change the color from purple to blue, but I agree consistency is the most important thing, as either reading is within the margin of error of the test kit.
