Salifert KH/Alk test kit?

Hi,

im having probs getting my head around the salifert kh/alk test kit. My reading on the syringe (once the liquid in the test vial turns from blue/green-orange/red/pink colour) is 13.8 KH in dKH / 0.14 in meq/L looking at the table provided.

I believe i then multiply this reading by either 16 for DKH or 5.71 for meq/L. That gives me reading off the scale at 220.8 in dkh???

Any help very much appreciated:)

you read the bottom of the black syringe. Upside down. All your reading is how much acid you drained out from it. .1ml of acid look at teh chart.

The numbers on the right does the math for you.

So if your black plunger is on the .10 mark on the tube, then your reading will be 14.4dKH.

if you would want to do the math your self, you would take .90 x 16 = 14.4dKH.

Thanks atvdave,

I was taking my reading which was 0.14 ml's giving me a dkh of 13.8 then multiplying it lol. Sorry!

So my dkh is 13.8 and need to decrease this to in around 9. Hows the best way to lower this and how much is too much at a time?

Thanks for claering the above guys very much appreciated.
