salinity at LFS

I just got a Kole Tang from an LFS. Before i started acclimating it i tested the salinity in the bag and the SG was about 1.015. Is it normal for a fish store to keep their salinity that low? I'm being super careful to acclimate him slowly but i was just wondering if that is unusual.

some people keep theirfowlr tanks at a lower salinity because it is supposed to kill some parasites and pathogens but I am not positive if this is true.

We kept the salinity at the LFS I worked at back in the day at the 1.015. It was to help with pathogens! Also, most of the fish came in at around that salinity.

many stores keep their fo tanks at that level. less parasites, more o2, and less $ spent on salt.
