Salinity testing

Just wondering how everyone tests their salinity/gravity? I just dropped my jbj digital temp/gravity/salinity device in the tank and it gives off random #'s now (dropped it 2-3 days ago). I borrowed my buddies hydrometer and its says my tanks salinity is at 1.028 which there is NO way that its that high... When my probe was working I had it 1.021... Buying a new tester tonight!

If a refractometer cost almost the same as a digital tester wouldn't it be easier to go with a digital tester? It comes with calibration fluid to make sure its never off... I guess I'm lazy :)

MD2101 Marine Depot Aquarium Refractometer $49.99
AM1115 American Marine Pinpoint Salinity Monitor $114.95

I was looking at getting the same digital salinity tester like I used to have. It was $70.00 so I guess $20.00 more....
