If you don't know the sg on arrival, set the QT to 1.025/6 and make amendments when you test the arrival water to suit - dilute / concentrate as appropriate on the assumption your QT is empty and able to accept any rapid swing should you need to make one.

SG from LA will be around 1.017 to 1.018. Divers Den will be around 1.025. To make acclimation easier, put your QT at these levels.

Try never to move a fish more than .001 higher salinity than their bag. Moving them into a lower salinity has a little more wiggle room---not much, but a little.

And no matter what you're told a salinity will be, use your refractometer on that bag to be sure before moving the fish out.

Remember that once you open that bag, the process of converting waste ammonium into ammonia has started and he has to be in the new water inside 30 minutes. Amquel or Prime can help that situation, but by preparing as you have done, you should be fine.

Don't even try to get help from LA. I went down this road with the same question. My last order, about 7 weeks ago, the salinity from LA was 1.017-1.018, and from DD the salinity was 1.026. The snails were 1.025.

I have one fish coming from divers den and one from ORA. both are coming tomorrow. I can make my QT any salinity, but im gonna run into a problem if one bag is 1.017 and one is 1.025

divers den is going to be 1.025 from what i gather.

any ideas?

And this drives me crazy. I like to QT a couple of fish together and if one is DD this makes it pretty much impossible. I'm sure QM does this to save money and mask parasitic infections.
