I was told that sally light foot is a good for removing hair algae. Is this true??? Will they harm any livestocck??? What else is good to help eliminateing hair algae????

Besides eating algae, Sally foots are just great looking crabs, they are pretty bold IMO coming out on the rock work often, They are always an eye catcher, I have two and they are hugh.

Mine tore the living heck out of a brand new pistol shrimp I added, within a minute of it being in there. Ever since then, I won't keep them.

I wouldn't keep any kind of crab in a reef, except for emeralds. I don't trust crabs because I have seen sally's eat star polyps and 2 clowns. JME.

Dont know about sally and hair algea...but I put 2 emeralds in my tank last week....I had a little aglea problem within 1 week all my live rock were clean of aglea....good job for 4 bucks each

Sallies get way big, and they're clever and elusive. If you change your mind and want them out, they're not an easy catch. Any crab when it gets large begins to see the tankmates as lunch: crabs that will eat anything other than algae---will do that, sooner or later. They're great generalists, which is why they've survived so long.
