salt mixes results you won't believe some of the waste of money

Key words there "Not Available $39.99 $79.98"
I just ordered 2 buckets of IO from there because they have free shipping over $50, and wanted the Oceanic, but it was unavailable then too. Have you already recieved it or is it on backorder?

I just ordered it...that "not available" word was because of an "additional coupon code"...The order went ok...

I have used IO for many years. But I have also mysteriously lost fish and had algae blooms over the years for no apparant reasons(all parameters were fine). So i figured it was time to try something differet so I ordered 58lbx 4 of oceanic mix from petsmart. We'll see how it does.

Well I got a message from petsmart this morning saying my order is on delay shipping. I never saw a message stating out of stock on there site when I ordered it. Good thing I have enough salt to last me a while :)

I originally started out using TMP. Due to the cost of the TMP and seeing a discussion noting that the TMP was blended for calcium reactor users (I don't use a reactor) I switched to RC. Both worked fine for me. Then I was in a LFS that was going out of business and picked up all 3 200 gal containers of Red Sea Pro for $80. It was a major steel! The RSP seems to be great salt, mixes quickly and tank parameters are fine, but I'm on my last bucket of the RSP which is a bummer. I did notice in mixing that RC doesn't desolve a well as the RSP or the TMP. Also noted that it takes more RC to get to 1.026 salinity at 80f. Seems to take about 1/2 cup more to reach the level. Just my observations.

yall know that you can get petsmart to pricematch online prices right? Just print out the online add. I dont know, but you may get them to honor online prices with the discount codes and all that!

Normaly they do but this ad specify "web only." Im not rush to go get salt at this time. If I was in the need for an immediate water change I would have gone and talked to a manager.

I got some oceanic today to try from the usual instant ocean I have been using. $21 for a 90gal mix jug. I also showed the manager the printout of the web price of the $10 off web deal and the 2 buckets and he said yeah, we would do that. Its mostly up to the individual managers whim from what I can see.

Oceanic is so out of wack balance wise and I hope they changed their mix some. It caused many people on this site algae issues and other wierd issues. It does mix very well though.

I wanted to try something different than what I have been. I have been fighting dinos and some cyano in the last 6 months that kinda popped up out of nowhere. The bucket of IO I have been using did get hard from what I suspect was water getting into it, so that is a possibility too.

I used to use IO but as so many people have stated I had horrid algae problems among other issues with my tank, since switching to TM things are peachy again. As someone else pointed out and people just glossed over, this is hardly all the information. You absolutely have to remember that there is other minerals in the salt that you are adding to your water, and that should influence your decision as well, which I suspect is why people have a track record of algae problems with OI, I remeber reading a link once that had some brand of salt that used small doses of copper in their salt mix, just things to keep in mind.
