salt needed

I think its different between salts, but I do believe its 1/2 a cup per gallon of water. But you probably want to confirm the salinity with a refractometer or at least a hydrometer.

Alright thank you guys...I'm just doing this for the time being so I can build my stand and all for my 37g

Never measure salinity by volume. You'll get radically different results each time. Use a refractometer or hydrometer to get accurate results. Preferably a refractometer. ;)

Alright thanks alot everyone again...I'm going to add some salt tonight then test it with my hydrometer tomarrow morning

if you are using a hydrometer, here is a suggestion.....

If you know anyone who has a refractometer, ask them to measure the same water as well. Then compare the results.

This will give you an idea on how far off your hydrometer is for future measurements.

IF you don't know anyone who has a refractometer, then take a sample to your local LFS. And they usually will have one.

Just buy a refractometer. For $50 mail-order, you can get one that is temperature adjusted that will give consistent results.

Hydrometers are just wildly inaccurate. IMHO, It's just too hard to keep your tank stable using such a device.

Yea I'm going to be buying one, I'm making a cart up on a site for all things I need...I.E Refractometer, RODI Unit, Calc Reactor, Lights..etc
