Salt

For years I used whatever was cheapest (usually Instant Ocean), but all I kept were fish, some softies, and some rather undemanding LPS. Since switching to a predominately SPS reef, I have switched to Reef Crystals so that I don't have to supplement the water change water to get it in line with my desired levels of Ca, Alk, and Mg. That it is relatively inexpensive helps.

Yes I normally just buy io reef crystal at petco when they run a sale. Got 2 boxes of 200 gallons each for 90 bucks shipped to my house. I've case was missing a bag ( 4 in a case) and they credited me the whole case back. I used to use regular io but went with reef for same reason as above

I used to use Seachem ReefSalt. I got it on amazon for like 50 shipped to house for 160 gallons. Just my experience with it has been I won't buy it again. I had really bad alk problems with it being very low. Switched to the natural seawater at Petco, 5 gallons for <$12. It worked great and I have no more cal and alk problems. I just tried IO reef salts two days ago and it tested before going in the tank about were I wanted them. I am going to use the Seachem, which I could never get the alk to measure above 7, I will use to cycle my next tank or better yet to de-ice the sidewalk and driveway next winter. Again on the Seachem, I might have just got a bad batch or something.
