Saltwater and RO/DI storage

So up until now I have just been making water as I needed it in 5g buckets. I have recently purchased some water storage barrels with the intention of keeping water on hand.

My question is what do you do to keep your water "good"?

I have heaters, powerheads and air pumps all that I can employ of course.

On your salt mix do you leave everything off (once initially mixxed) and then just kick on your powerhead and heater a while before you plan to use it? Do you keep these on all the time?

As long as you use a salt mix without organics in it it will store indefinitely without either heat or water movement. I use Instant Ocean and make up a moths worth of salt mix at a time and store it until needed. Stored water should be aerated and heated before use.

For as your RO/DI water you don't have to worry about mixing it at all. Also with mixed saltwater I have a pump in the Brute containers which go off every hour for 10 minutes. When I do a water change, I will take out the amount I need and heat it to the DT temp.
