Depending on the diameter of the hose, you can usually create a syihon by just putting the tube in front of a powerhead to get the water moving.

Thanks. I think I might try to do that so I don't even risk touching the cesspool. With all the money I'm spending to start a reef tank my wife would be pretty upset if we had to pump the cesspool on top of it.

I am confused?
RO units do not generate "good" water quickly enough for water changes.
Without a storage container how do you mix salt?

The good water would be collected in a separate container and mixed. I plan on using a pump to get it into the tank.

For your "quick disconnect", just use a ball valve and a union. quick and easy, and cheap.
