Saltwater lfs in eastern Iowa?

Greetings all, I'm new to the forum and just wanted to say hi. I've had my tank going since May of 06 and just upgraded from a 29 to a 55 in December thanks to my loving wife. :) I was wondering if anyone would know of any saltwater fish stores in eastern Iowa that is reputable? I've been going to Davenport from time to time as my job takes me there. Aquatic Environments is a nice place but a long way to drive with the gas prices right now. The place in Waterloo doesn't seem to be stocking much in the way of saltwater anymore so I've given up on them. Anything lfs's close to the Waverly area? I've purchased alot from the web but hate paying the shipping charges.

Thanks for the list. I'll have to check them all out. Actually I'll be through Des Moines on Thursday on my way to KC to work for a couple of days.

I would reccomend Iowa Pet Food and Aquatics on 22nd over Adams, JMO. Better prices and service.

Join the Greater Iowa Reef Society and get in on Group buys online. That way shipping is divided between many people or can even be free. We are doing one now for Clean up crews, what a deal. Pays for the cost of membership in one shot.

Holy Crap! Someone actually close to me for a change!!!!

I live in Clarksville. There ain't crap around here. You'll pretty much have to drive or order online. There's a store up in Mason City that sells SW fish. I've never been there though so I can't say too much about it. There's also a little pet shop in Horton that says exotic fish. Not sure what they mean by exotic I haven't had a chance to run over there yet either.

If you ever want to go in on an order online or something let me know.

What kind of corals and stuff do you have? SPS, LPS, ???

Hey has anyone been to the place in horton? We have tried like 3 times but have either went on days that they were closed or after hours.

I haven't been inside yet. I did drive there one day but they weren't open. I'd be pretty surprised if they have SW in there. It's not a very big store and it's a "PET" store. So I'm guessing there's prob. just a few tanks with some cichlids and stuff.

Are you around the area too Ruggerkc?

Hey rugger. There are a ton of us from the Waterloo area. You should come to one of our next events!

I was in Elk Run for the auction:D
I wanted to go to doghey Joeys for the pizza party.

this saturday there's an Iowa Aquaria Association in elk run, ya'll should stop by if you can, it's mostly going to be freshwater stuff but there's always food and tanks and other stuff around, feel free to bring some frags and such to swap

ya'll make sure to hunt me down and say hi, i'd like to meet some salty reefers and pick their brains before i jump headfirst into my little slice of ocean ;)

You can pick all you want, but if I took a picture of the hair algea forrest I call a reef tank you may not want to know how I do things:D

In reply to got2lb, I have LPS corals. My lighting won't allow for SPSs (Nova Extreme T5s). I have a torch, colt, white Kenya tree, two zoo colonies (and spreading), a green ricordia, some green mushrooms, green open brain, small finger leather, a 3" clam, and my newest addtion a pink bubble coral that I just picked up in Kansas City.

If anyone gets to the KC area, Midwest Reefs is a small but nice place. His tanks are really clean. I was there working Thurs-Sat. Alot of sps frags for sale. He has a nice price on metal halide lights too, so I will be upgrading hopefully at Christmas this year. :)

I think I will check out that place in Horton, and also in Mason City since they are so close by.
