Keeping it simply: nothing too dear; letting things grow out large; a lot of like little fishes; a lot of movement; and easy maintainance. Basically i'm keeping my ego out of this one, no regrets, no beartbreaks... the tank was designed well enough for it to stay alive on its own for nearly two years and I now we ars slowly tweeking it better and more resilient to outages, heatwaves, and the like.

In mid March everything was cleaned up and cycling from a long fallow that turned brackish. I saved the tank in time to keep Sanjay's nepthae? going. Now the tank is about stocked in corals; the only primary coral to add is maybe an elegance. The collonista, stomatella, brittle star... survivors are all starting to repopulate. The biggest surprise was the bta an 8" nem turned into 2-8", 1-6", 3-4", 2-3" in three months! Next nice surprise is how kool my pink nepthae is! Finding a larger colt at a fair price helps the tank feel more like our plans for size and movement so very early into it's growth.

Next is to see if tapatalk helps post pictures without using photobucket or thumbnails.

Does it require online photo storage or can I go direct from phone cam to online? (like fb)

Tapatalk loads something like fb; I'm assuming that they store it. I just click the pucture icon, tell it where to look, pick a file and hit send. I have not figured out yet how to tell it to load more than one file at a time, its fast but i have to go back and forth to place more thsn one photo per post.

I added seven other fish yesterday in addition to the anemonefish. I want to change the thread title to "Salty's Fish Tank!"

In tapatalk if you click the little box in the upper right hand corner of your pictures, instead of the actual picture, you can click as many as you want to add to your post.

only thing I don't like about tapatalk and uploading photos, you cant comment between the pictures. It just uploads them, you have to comment before or after the pics.

I'm a big believer in KISS as well. But watch for the BTA's to expand their number. I started with 2, within 18 months had 13 of them. Most dont move, but the few that do can cause some damage to lps/sps corals.

Keeping simple has a lot of meanings: some are technical/mechanical, some deal with livestock, some deal with trying to keep ego away from the tank, and more.

For now, I will stick toa few KISS ideas i have about coral decisions. I have looked through the glass of a handful of very awesome tanks. Some, most have never heard of; others, most have.

One of my favoites was in a pet store near Caramel NY. It was a simple tank in that it only had about three corals in it: a GIANT colt, some elephant ears, and i believe s xenia colony. The tank was full.

I have only seen pictures of Borneman's birdsnest tank. So like his, one plan i had was to break up a birdsnest over a 60-70 gal side of the tank and let it do its thing. My children wanted a host/anemone fish thing. Its much more facinating to watch than Seriatopora. So letting them know the ramifacation keeping breeding clowns and anemones entail the decision was made.

Anemones do the same as birdsnest; they can take over.

I always enjoyed movement much more than looking at polyps with a glass, or needing funked up lighting to set them aglow. So the choices are rather simple: Euphylia or Octocoral. I decided that this time around that I am not so interested in ever trying to match an increasing chemical demand. The choice for octos is clear.

How many suscribe to mounting our frags at least 5-6 inches apart? I dont want to lose sleep anymore worrying that my rainbow pineapple haze is now damaging itself on my purple bubble blaster. Therefore, part of the decision to let just a few corals dominate leaving space in case there is need to relocate something seems a must.

How are the blennies doing? I'm looking to add a couple fish to my tank and I keep coming back to blennies. Any quarreling amongst them? Any of them seem more apt to graze on rock film/aglae?

I think they are hit or miss. The Discos dont squable. The Kamahora is a single, however, the one who I believe is now gone never took pellet or frozen. I would see it eat coral mucus provided by the large heliopora as well as a constant picking at the rocks. When it was driven to hiding i think it lost its will. I have one dominant Blackline, one made it to the sump through the overflow, and the others live in and out of hiding. There is no intervariety fighting. I added a E liniatus Lined blenny, and an Orange spot which is something like a Solarias vr.

I am happy with this mix. The clowns are growing so quickly. I am trying to talk myself into adding a couple Tilefish. This goes against my object because, they are not only moderately expensive, but jumpy to the point of ultimately hurting themselves on the cover. On the other hand, they are the coolest fish that I have ever kept.
