Sand for sharks.

My plan is to get a shark egg in the middle of March but date subject to change.

I have a question conserning sharks, is Arag-Alive reef sand safe for sharks? I have that on top of really fine grain aragonite sand. And before everyone flames me, the shark will be going to a "more then" 50,000gal tank in about a year and a half. Thanks

If you get a shark egg, then more than likely it is a bamboo which do not need 50,000 + gallons more like 180 to a 300 so make sure what type of shark you are getting before you plan everything else out.
What size tank will he be going in while you have him?

Now about the sand anything that is the smallest grain you can get is the best. yes that sand is fine

more like 180 to a 300

That's a HUGE difference...and no, a shark that will max out around 42" is NOT ok in a 180gal. tank.

Please, dont give definitive information, stating it as fact, unless you have actually experiance with said animal.

WOW !!! u walked right into that one bro.My suggestion to u is if u have ANY questions about sharks pm bjj, puffer queen, jcrim,or even mitzel he has buddys he could prob ask for u. Sorry to say it but if u put (SHARK) in ur thread stick a fork where the sun dont shine cause ur done!!!! if u know what i mean...

hahaha wow yall sure ANSWERED HIS QUESTION.

small grade fine sand because any cuts to her belly can cause bacterial infections. A light coat (2 in) is perfect. So yes your sand will work. what type of shark is this? Tank mates?

Actually, mostly everyone that has posted knows this kid.

He often lies about filtration, tank size, tank mates, etc. just to tell peope what they want to hear, so they'll agree with his decisions.

It's unfortunate.

NorthFace,
You are a big jerk just to let you know. And you think i dont have the filtration? I'm getting a 20gal long sump this weekend, I have a better protein skimmer then you and beautifuler tank mates then you so shut your mouth. Everyone else, I do know how to deal with sharks I have read about them. The BIG tank is at a local Basspro Shoppe Mall with a saltwater tank, I have talked to the manager and he said there should be no problem. And thanks for answering my sand question, just double checking.

You defensiveness and insults have only proven my point.

You, "reading about sharks", means nothing. You're all wrapped up in everyone else getting a shark (on other boards). If you're so experianced with sharks, why have you not posted on that other board, where you're the most active? You wont because the people there already know what type of setup you have and you know you'd never get the ok, from other people, to get a shark.

On another board, you already claim to have a sump, yet here, you say you're getting it this weekend.

It's just odd to me that you'd change your story on different boards, about your setup. You're only telling people what they want to hear, so they'll agree that it's ok for you to get a shark.

Grimreefers have abunch of jerks there and I care about no one there. And I dont change my stories YOU never listen. Once again not speaking before you think so dont even post on my subject, you just give out false info. And you know what, I dont give one sh*t what you and your grim firends say, I have found 2 nicer forums saltwater and reefcentral. They actully HELP me out.

Yo chief. Calm down a bit . You know you need very fine sand for the tank. you can NOT lay the fine sand over coarser sand. it will mix and cause problems in the long run.

:wildone:

dude...my E-balls are bigger than yours!

Lets be adults now...ight well i gotta go watch finding nemo and study :o! haha lucky i half to it's Girls gone Wild night at the club :(
