Sand OK?

Roger,

In a 6X2x2 tank for SPS, Clams and maybe a couple of soft corals with a 4" sand bed - do I need to be greatly concerned about sandstorm problems if I use two 6100's using say, the 30/100 pulse method?

I recently decided to go from a 5' to a 6' tank so when I did I changed my backorder at MD from 6000's to 6100's. Seemed real smart at the time, but now I seem to be questioning my decision some.

It will be trouble at first. Aaron, one of my employees has a 180 with 2 6100 Streams. He started with one and had a lot of problems keeping the sugar sand in place. After a few weeks it stopped being an issue. I think 4 months later he added a second Stream and a multicontroller. I would say expect trouble at first, it will be OK in the long run. When the sand does get stirred up, be sure and keep the pumps clean. With the friction and wear from the sand you can really tear up a pump.
