Sand or no sand in fuge???

I've always had sand in my fuge before, but I want to see what others are doing. So, sand or no sand in your fuge? And if yes to sand, how deep?

If you can do a DSB then yes. No sense in a shallow or tweener sand bed.

What’s the measurement of the fuge? Cause if the area is small there is no point of having any sand. But DSB are mostly 4- 6 inches easy! If you plan on adding mangroves the area doesn’t matter and I will do a DSB for sure. Also depending on height for LR in fuge, I used pvc and egg crate to raise my LR off 1 inch and added a powerhead to keep circulation med strong underneath. This kept detritus from building up and causing issues down the road. (Hope that made some sense keeping LR of the sandbed)

I am a sand fan. It's a good place for critters such as worms and other detrivores. I wouldn't go deep though and I wouldn't worry too much about detritus in a fuge.

Its easy as pie to clean. Normally all the detritus, builds up on the bottom surface underneath my cheato.

I vote yes on sand in fuge if it is big enough and if you are gonna keep a small cuc in there, then you don't have to worry about buildup if you have stuff in there eating it.

Same reasoning here.. I want a pod factory! Crushed oyster shell does it for me, its like a many layered city for pods.
