What kind of sand to I need to get to avoid the "Sandstorm" effect in my tank?
I had small seashells last year and like the sand look better.

How deep should I make the bed also? I really dont want a place for a bunch of detritus to build up.

PS- still looking for 100lbs LR so PM ME!

since my tank is only 37g I just bought some of the live sand from Gateway, for a 90 that might be expensive

on the other hand, the sand is perfect and never makes a sand storm...if there is too much current it will dune, but never gets into the water column

I dont need live sand. I can just have LR instead.
LS is too $$
Anyone know if there is a certain size or type that is better?

I've got aragonite 1-2 mm size that doesn't get up into the water column, will just make dunes if the current is strong enough.

yeah I know, but I havent seen "dead" sand anywhere that would be suitable...so I just said what I used

I use the oolitic carribsea aragamax. Even with approx. 50X turnover it does alright. The first month or so is a little rough on keeping it in place but once it becomes colonized with bacteria and critters, no problems.
