Menards has a sand substance called "Silica Filler". Its in a white bag with black and blue lettering. Anyone know if this is safe to use as a substrate? Cost is around $6 for a 50LB bag. Thanks.

That only comes up as a powder and not a sand

Its called Granusil. They sell it as "industrial handysand". Thats over the phone, I'll swing by tomorrow after work and get more info off the bag.

Thats the stuff. Its just that the bag title says GRANUSIL Silca fillers. But it definatly appears to be a fine sand, similar to masons sand. So good to go with it? Thanks.
