sand sifting star climbing glass

Anyone know why a sand sifting star would insist on climbing glass repeatedly? I've taken it down several times, even tried burying it under thin layer of sand, but every time I turn around its back up the glass again. This started only about an hour ago. After it started, I tested:

temp=80.4 F
sg=1.025
NH=0
NO2=0
NO3=5
PO4=0
Ca=400

I'm at a loss on what it is trying to do. I made no changes, added nothing, was just sitting and watching (thanks to work I haven't gotten much time to do that lately), and all of a sudden it comes out of the sand and starts climbing, like it just got homesick.

It's looking for something. It could be something like better oxygenation, but more likely, better hunting grounds. It's probably eatten everything it can from you sand and now it's hungry.

yeah, that sounds like a hungry starfish to me, how long has your sand bed been established?

Mine used to do that every night. Now I barely ever see it on the glass. I do see little bugs all over the glass so maybe that is what's is going after. Like stated above they can deplete the food supply pretty quickly.

I have had one for 3yrs. It has went through 4 tank transfers and is doing great. I cant say that mine dose that much. I know it has done it a few times.

I wouldnt keep taking it off of the glass, just let it be.

How long has the tank been set up, how deep is your sand bed?
