I was looking for sand at Home Depot for my 75 gallon FW set-up that is going to house teacup stingrays and discus. In the main swimming area for the rays I wanted to have a soft sand. I came across sand from a company called KolorScape. It's an extra fine soft texture white play sand. Here's the problem. It says do not use in aquariums. The only warning on the bag says that it may contain small amounts of crystalline silica which shouldn't be breathed in and shouldn't matter in an aquarium. Are they just trying to cover their butts in case some of it gets into a filter and seizes it or is there a genuine risk to fish? Any input would help because I'd love to use the sand. It's the softest sand I've ever come across which would be great for rays. I'm going to go with about 40 lbs. of the Eco-complete planted tank gravel and about 25 - 30 lbs. of sand. Thanks in advance.
