New angler won't eat. I got him 3 days ago and have offered live and frozen brine. Frozen mysis, pellets and dried shrimp. Any suggestions?

you have to train it.

how small is it ? I do not think brine shrimp is the food you should be offering.

go on you tube and see how they are fed with sticks.

It's quite small. Maybe 2-3"? And I saw that but the guy at the store said he ate brine shrimp and rosy reds. Should I keep trying diff foods?

Ill pick up a rosy red and damsel tommorow. The area on the top and bottom of his mouth is yellow. Is that a cause for concern?

No it shouldn't be. Also just want to say Alex has given some good advice in this thread so definitely try it out if you haven't. Frogfish absolutely need more than brine shrimp (I doubt anything but a larval frogfish would eat something that small). You should also try frozen silversides using a feeding stick. Search namxas' posts. he has posted the one he made many times and it is a good example of the type that is most effective for predatory fish. I've also never failed to ween a frogfish over to frozen using a feeding stick.

Good advice...definitely stay away from rosy reds or other carp (e.g., goldfish). If you can't find ghosties, use appropriately-sized guppy or molly fry.

If the LFS was feeding the fish large prey items, and they likely were feeding it TOO large a prey item, it may not even WANT to eat yet. Anglers have very slow metabolisms, and only require feeding about twice a week. An overfed angler can end up with fatty lipidosis, or worse, the food might rot in its gut before it is digested, which = dead angler.

THIS is probably the feeding article that was mentioned...hope it helps. I strongly recommend the "stealth stick" over anything else.
