SC Aquariums Owners Thread

What is the general opinion for the ceramic media that comes in the big bag for these PNP systems? I placed mine in the sump and will probably run cheato with it. Keep it or dump it?

I would check out Tunze's Osmolator. It is thr best one IMO. It is also pricy...
There is the Smart Top off which many have been saying great things about...

So is there anybody using the bulkheads that were supplied with the aquarium just wondering if it's worth getting new ones

I have the Tunze 3155 and like it though I know that the pumps don't last long when using kalk so I have both a spare pump and their outlet so I can use another pump like my MJ1200 when the two pumps I have die.

Tassy - I got my own bulkheads. I did not like the ones from SC. Even though I was supplied the 1" bulkheads in addition to the normal metric ones I could not get over the looseness in 2 of them. The pipe just wiggled in there as opposed to the tight fit I got with bulkheads from BRS or my lifegard ones I have from Amazon.

You are going to want some gate valves anyway and probably a couple union ball valves so just place an amazon or BRS order.

yes get the ABS schedule 40. The holes are a bit tight to try the schedule 80 and for a bulkhead on a non pressure situation schedule 80 bulkhead is WAY overkill.

I just got this in the mail today :) the new overflow cover for the sca 120 and 150 ill post pics of it installed tonight

Just got a 66 PNP does anybody know what size fitting to use on the pH 2500 Return pump? I'm going to use the flex tubing

Thnx

John.

For the PH2500, the thread part on the pump is 1/2" but the enclosed barb is 1/2" threaded to 1" barb

I'm not home at the moment but does anyone know if the return loc line on the 150 gallon is 1/2" or 3/4"? Thx.
