I think anything that you put pressure is likely to crack. Never had issues with the ABS personally but then again I always have at least one section in my plumbing (sometimes hidden by using small pieces for joins) of flex tube so that the pipes are not stressing connections or bulkheads.

I would get your tank in first before you order schedule 80 just to measure and confirm as they are quite snug and some people have had issues but they "should" fit. That said I just dont see enough benefit in them as you should never be stressing a bulkhead to the point of cracking. Remember that is weakened glass there so you are also stressing the glass by tweaking bulkheads. Just not wise.
Good advice,thank you.

I went with the Jebao DCT6000 on mine, been pretty happy with it.

I have the DCT12000 running my skimmer and I am pretty impressed with it especially given the price. Good option for a DC pump to use as a return pump.

FOr my return I am running Fluval SP6. Obviously for a 66 you could get away with a smaller SP4 or such. I am pretty darn impressed with how quiet it is and the flow I get off of it.

I have an SP4 in my mixing station and have it sending water up 8 feet or so and across about 15-20 feet without much of an issue.

I'm using a tunze silence for my return on my 120g, 1073.02
I probably could have bumped a little more flow but I did not want to do more than the drain could handle.
I recently tried the fluval sp 2, it was super quiet, but I could see the water level drop after just a few days, meaning the output was noticeably less very early on, so I'm back to my silence.
I've been debating on going back to my old school fav which is an Eheim 1262 w/ a ball valve to adjust flow, maybe.
Either way just make sure your drains can handle the return volume

Always better to have to turn down a pump slightly (easy with DC pumps) then it is to have a pump running full bore all the time.

The new Jebao/Jecod model is "DCS" which is, presumably, better than the "DCT" and "DC" models. Unfortunately, they skipped the 6000 and went straight to 7000.

So the options for me are DCS 5000 or DCS 7000. I am leaning more towards the 7000 but since I haven't used DC pumps, I am not really sure. Which one would you recommend?

I have a 66g stock from SC ..

DCS7000, you can always dial it down, vs the 5000 you would have on the higher side for GPH.

Go with DCS, they make improvements with every generation. DCS7000 is the same as DCT6000, it just pumps water more efficently so it has higher flow rating. I am running DSC9000 on my 150 gallon and it hasnt had a hiccup in 9+ months of continuous running.

Hey can anyone post picks of plumbing for the new 50 gallon cube. It now comes with 3 holes drilled and the durso drain. Much appreciate it thanks

Purchased a 50 gallon SCA PNP Starfire about one week ago. Replaced the bulkheads with standard.

Broke down my last reef tank about 7 years ago, bought this tank after walking into a lfs. :lmao:

Using the new AI Prime HD, seems to provide great coverage, but I don't have any coral yet so we'll have to see when I get some. :fish1::thumbsup:

HI, did your 50 pnp tank come with 3 holes drilled in it?

Its been posted numerous times in here. Ditch the durso and go with a herbie. Look up gmac reef and follow their guide.

50G, SCA Tank (overflow weir removed, sort of came lose on its own, and I pulled it, was happy without it, allows way more return flow) I also converted to herbie and run full siphon, silent. Just a FOWLR, might pick up some star polyps.

Fish:
SnowFlake Clown, Midas Blenny, Fire Fish, and baby Yellow Tang (going to return to store, owned almost a year now) Will be adding some more fish, more small stuff, perhaps a fancy wrasse I like.

Equipment:
Jebao DCT 15,000 ( full speed ) , Two RW4's (else mode) Jebao DC500 Skimmer, Carbon in a filter bag, a Heater, and standard T-5, amazon special. Auto-Top off from a 35g Brute Beside tank. RODI Home System.

I have hard plumbing to baffle-less sump

Maintenance:
Have not done a water change in about 3 months, nitrates are less that 5 ppm I vinager dose, water is crystal clear, I can try and get a better photo to demonstrate it. Clean Glass every 3-5 days (almost no film, im just picky) and run a sock for an hour or two every week or two when I do a detailed cleaning..
Feed Fish daily, pellets.

Wish List:
Some Starboard 1/2 inch cut for a more attractive bare bottom. But I'm eyeing a big upgrade from SCA in the future so probably save the cash and let it be.

Do you think I could order just the sump for a 110 gallon? I accidentally cracked it, and now running with a spare which is much smaller. Just not sure if it would be worth it with Shipping.

I had the same problem, I replaced the broken sump with plastic storage container. I would go to the SCA facebook group and contact steve directly.

OK I am pretty excited, I will be taking shipment of my new 150 with white custom cabinet on Friday afternoon. I have my sump, AWC, reactors and rock all ready to go. I also have started a build thread over in the journals forum. I will get some pix up on Friday and will likely be working on it over the weekend to get it all set up.

Of the three most common types of drain systems (durso, herbie and beananimal) with an overflow you are looking for two things: Safety and silence.

The herbie and beananimal are generally considered to be silent when you get them dialed in correctly. The beananimal is safer because it has two emergency drains compared with one on the herbie.

Both are considered superior to the durso in safety and silence, however, many on the forums run a durso.

If you have three holes run a herbie (two drain one return). If you really want a beananimal you will need to run the return up over the top.

I use a Herbie supported by my ReefAngel and DC pump. My tank came with two holes. One is assigned as emergency drain and the other provides quiet siphon. I have a water level sensor in my return and it controls the return pump's speed. It makes sure that the water level is not too low, do that the sound of waterfall dos not happen. It keeps the water level at 1/8th inch down from the emergency drain. It worked for me for two years without hitch.
