SC Aquariums Owners Thread

Is the stand by a custom builder or is it the new wood ones that sc now supply?
That is one seeexy sump man.

Brownbearhair,

It is by a local custom builder, I dont know much about the SCA stands, but wanted to build something strong since my wife would kill me if an accident ever happened at the new house the tank is going in...lol. As you know wives are reef tank's #1 enemies(unless you are a lucky one)

For those with the 50 gallon cube, what type of lighting are you using? I am running a nanobox duo but I don't feel it is enough. Would like to see what everybody else is having success with

I have a Ocean Revive T247 and works great with my mixed SPS/LPS/Softies.

They did a great job on it.
I like the side door addition.
I am one of the lucky ones haha. My wife will even go to the lfs with me and listen to my reef rants.
Going to be setting up a little mushroom tank for her sometime soon

Shua71,

I've got the Reefbreeders Photon v2

Its a very bright light. I don't think I'll ever need to turn anything higher than 50%. That may even be too much.
But with 6-channels I can turn everything down to a nice level.

Ted

Attached is the Reef Breeders at 15%. I think my schedule peaks out at 40 to maybe 45 percent.
I love the light. I've only had it a little over a week. Still playing around with the settings.

My Photon v2 is the 16 inch model. I thought the 24 inch would be over-kill and would have a lot of the light spectrum hitting the floor.

Ted

Nice stand! Was that custom made by SC as well? Can I ask how much the stand costed you?

Thanks!

Thank you, no it was done by a stand builder here from NY...
It was $960, not cheap but I wanted to make sure I got it done right.
Im not a fan of "build it yourself" stands...they make me nervous

Just finished painting the outside of my sump for my 50g PNP setup....

Anyone order a custom SCA aquarium? Seems like they are missing the 180g models.. They jump from 150 to 210 on the website.

They don't list all sizes online if they are limited in quantities. They actually have a lot more tank configs and sizes then you see online

How do I see the list, or do I call/email to find? Do they do rimless?

They may be silly question, but how is the build quality compared to a RS Reefer or a custom builder like a Reef Savvy?

Call steve there.

Build quality is excellent and yes they do rimless.

Not to grade of reef savy but also 1/4 of the price. They dont do the phantom bottoms or armored seams and such that rs does but also not really needed imho.

Cool, I just sent an email , if I dont hear i'll call too. Is the shipping included in the price?

I'm looking for a 180G rimless.. Hope they have one and it is under $3k.

How do you think their tanks compare to Red Sea Reefer?

I think they are same or better then rs reefer personally. I mean star fire glass is fairly even across board.

I recommend you get it drilled for synergy overflow instead of in tank setup

My current tank overflow is in tank setup so I don't have much experience with the "ghost" overflows.

So if you do synergy overflow, I basically have about a 4" gap to the wall? And all the plumbing hangs in the gap? The returns go up behind the tank too?
