SC Aquariums Owners Thread

For those that have ordered a tank and stand in 2017, how long did it take to receive them? I ask because I ordered mine in February and it hasn't shipped yet... stand issues. Just curious is all. Thanks!

Took just a bit over 7 weeks for me. What stand did you get? I went with the 90Gal Cube w/ White stand which is why it took a bit longer for mine as it had to be made. Then Steve wanted to look at it before it shipped and he was out at a trade show.

I ordered the 150g with stand. I refused the first stand due to quality and wrong color and that was on March 7th. The original order was placed on February 13th. I'm a patient person but I'm starting to get frustrated.

What pics of the stand are people looking for? I think mine was built pretty well.
I think I have one of the few (maybe first) white stands they did.

I would be willing to take photos of whatever everyone wants. My setup was delivered in October.

What size setup do you have ?

Yup I can do that this weekend... I don't have the absolute neatest setup haha, but it works :)

Soulpatch and others with amazing setup's are allowed to laugh at my "wire management".

Will I got the 50pnp in yesterday. Brought it home unpacked everything and inspected it. Everything seems to be in one piece, though the stand is not that great. I half expected that. I'm not thrilled with the thin cheap finish on it, look like I'm going to Lowe's this weekend and getting some sanding disks, and some sealer. What caulking should I use to for the seams? Any good recommendations. 20170323_211758.jpg

Mine was a rats nest as well till I got to it recently. I still need to get into the stand a bit more and route wires for my calcium reactor.

Rogue - If you are talking for the seams I like paintable caulk. Since it wont be in contact with the water and you sound like you are painting over it you can pretty much get whatever. If you are sanding and painting the interior (which I highly recommend) get appliance epoxy paint at your local store. Be warned it stinks to high heaven so do it outside if you can but the paint dries to form a hard shell which is AWESOME to repell water, make cleanups easier, and most importantly it is bright white so it makes things in the stand easier to see.

Rogue, if I may ask, when did you order your tank and stand? I'm trying to get an idea on when I can expect my order to be shipped. I ordered mine on February 13th. Thanks!

I'm going to be refinishing the outside in a gloss black and will probably go for a paint that lays on thick and will be water proof as well. As for the inside, that's where I want to seal the seams and yes absolutely I'm painting it Brite white. I like the idea for the appliance paint forming a shell.

With the plywood stand, the sides I see are load bearing, I would like to drill two 1.5" holes in the right side. Does anyone think this could raise concern? I don't think it would especially if they are staggered holes in just thought I'd ask for some opinions before I pull the trigger.

Never measure yourself by what others do or have, that there is the key to an unhappy life!

best thing I have read all day...
and so very true.
a wise man once said you must live happy with in your budget...

in this hobby is can be a challenge tho...I wanted an 80/20 stand but after buying the tank and supplies it was not gonna happen wish it did tho. if I ever move I might be able to do it.

still love my 90. I did a nice cleaning yesterday and was just admiring how sexy its looking. all tho still wish they were doing drilling for external overflows when I got mine. oh well still love it.

we should start a SCA pic thread...any interest?

Yes, interest in a pic thread.

I'm still interested in seeing a mix of stands to check quality. I'm a little concerned as it seems the stands are 36" high? Is that correct? I'm 6'3" so that is quite a bit lower than my last 45" tall stand.

The holes won't effect anything

I still Love my 150. I purchased the tank stand and canopy. I just wush my canopy was taller so that my lights could be higher off the water line
One early picture and one recent

Just got the inside of the stand on my 50PNP sealed with caulking and kilz primer. I'll let it dry a day, sand it and add another coat. I'm so glad I paid extra and got the plywood over an MDF stand!!!

Its a trigger systems tideline 36. The stand it of good quality. Its of solod wood and reminds me of store bought stands as far as basic design. They are way more sturdier. The only mods yhat you would have to do is for air flow. The holes provided are IMO does not allow for good ventilation and exhause
