How's the quality of the low-iron glass? Starphire or low-grade? Does it scratch easily?

Glass is claimed to be starphire and from the looks of it, it definitely is. Have had my tank up and running for about 8 months and no scratches, but I am overly careful when cleaning the glass. Proper care should be taken will all the tanks regardless of the glass.

Question, I was wondering what light system you're all using for your sump? I have the 4bulb T5 fixture that came along with the system but it's just too big and bulky for my taste. Anyone else using something with a smaller foot print to light up their sump (fuge area)? Thanks

I'm currently using a Nova S2 LED light with heavy red LED's, Currently with my bio-load and feeding (heavy) I grow about 4-6 gallons of chaeto a month.

I'm buying a 150 gallon tank from them. What do people recommend regarding their plumbing they provide? Is there something I should change? Should I dump it all and start from scratch?

They use metric fittings and pipe. I would advise changing to standard.

Mine I picked up from them locally, and they gave me the correct plumbing parts, but it was schedule 80, which is ok, but the problem I had was getting my water level right and achieving complete silence.
I found it to be much better to use flex line inside the overflow for both drain and return.
This way I was able to align everything better and raise the drain slightly giving me perfect water level.
My tank is absolutely silent.
The only noise I hear at all is my skimmer, and that is nearly nothing and contained inside stand anyway.
My solution is on page 15 here, but there other workable options, and everyone usually ends up doing their own little tweaks depending on return pump choice and drain path to sump.

I got them to include the standard bulkheads but will be throwing out the rest of the plumbing. I am going to run a bean in mine to be safer and more silent and simply run the return over the back of the tank to tie into the existing locline.

I just ordered mine and got the walnut which should be in soon. I have a stock picture of the stand Steve had emailed me if you would like that. Just shoot me your email in PM and I will forward it or if you can wait till tonight I will post in this thread.

I went with the walnut personally but I have pics of both the walnut and cherry in my email.



Oh and I am joining the club as well as I ordered the 150 with walnut all wood stand. Should be in hand in 2 weeks (had him hold it a week so I would be on vacation when it came) I have my own sump and such so I just went with the stand and tank. Came out less then getting just a tank made from other builders (basically about 1/2 what others would have cost for tank alone) So I am a happy camper. Now to figure out which return pump I want, powerheads, and whether I go TBS rock or dry rock...

Equipment ready to go is my life reef skimmer and trigger ruby elite sump. Have an ATO and dosers as well. Corals will mostly be moved from my current biocube as that gets transitioned into a frag tank. ZERO rock from my biocube will go over and all corals will be redipped in peroxide and QTed before they go into my next tank to ensure no algae or others get into the new tank. My clowns and talkspot will make the transition and then it is fish ordering time!!!

61 3/4" x 24 3/8 for the all wood 150 stand. If you go with the other MDF stand though I am not sure if it is the same measurements. Steve would be able to hook you up with any questions you would have.

Spent the weekend caulking, sanding, and priming the inside of my stand. This week I will paint the appliance paint to give it a nice shiny hard white interior to be as waterproof as possible. Hopefully BRS or MD have a wild BF sale for some of the few things they do not currently have on sale so I can grab the rest of my parts and hopefully this tank sees water in Jan.

Here are some pics of my stand painted and now lit by LEDs so I can easily see everything inside. I used kilz primer then white appliance paint which has a hard shell when dried and will protect against spills wonderfully. I then put some neoprene on top do deaden sump vibrations and hung my LED strip lighting.

Curious if anyone used the wood canopy with a T5 fixture or retrofit kit and if so could you post some pics. I am thinking of using mine but would love to see some pics of others who have done the same.

Here are some photos of my Arctic 247s in the wood canopy that came with the aquarium. I had to open the hole in the canopy up in order to fit the lights flush with the bottom of the canopy.

Just got my SC 90. It comes with a 5 chamber sump. How are you setting up the chambers?

I pulled out the baffles and turned it into a 3 chamber. The 5 chamber is set op as a wet/dry and would not be optimal.

Honestly I wish I had set it up with only 2 chambers but I am not sure if that would have compromised the integrity because of the rimless design
