SC Aquariums Owners Thread

Got my 80gal yesterday. Shipping was a bit jacked up bc of the snow, so I picked it up from the warehouse, so much for free. Got the solid wood stand and its decent, a few scratches. I'd give it a 7/10.

If you can build your own for less than $200, do it. Not sure why MDF is even an option, no matter how careful you are it's getting wet at some point. Don't risk it, unless you coat it in marine grade paint.

I will post a few pics of the edge on mine. And now it begins. My wife is already sick of this new obsession.

Couple pics of the tank and stand. Edge is greenish-blue. Stand is solid plywood painted with black gloss finish incase your wondering.

Got my Marco box of rocks yesterday too. They are in a tote for a soak and rinse. Way more than 50#.

Yup it's 3/4" plywood. I will however have to modify the back for the 3 hole but that's no biggy. It was worth the upgrade. Here's a pic of interior. I plan to paint it white with and seal it up.

I totally agree the MDF should be avoided.
Glad they are giving options on both that and 2nd drain, those were my only two gripes.

Plumbing Guidance

Was going to use the flex tubing that came with the setup. Anyone have issues with it? Or should I just go PVC for piece of mind. Can someone post pics or a link of their undercarriage (sump) area for a newbie like me looking to steal shamelessly from your exemplary setup? Don't want to screw this up.

I am hard PVC save for a small foot long section where I use spa flex to rid myself of any vibrations in the lines.

amazon here there cheaper..
I was going to go with the colored PVC from BRS but i have a kryon spry pain just setting around its a nice blue so I decided to go with that but I do like the look of it tho..

got my 150g on order!! excited, decided I'm going to get either a custom stand made here locally or thinking of the 8020 aluminum stand and keep my sump area open and clean

I thought about the 80/20 but the costs grew much faster then I found it to be worthwhile. I was going to do my own custom hickory stand but bought the all wood stand instead for simplicity's sake. I thought I would be up and running MUCH faster in buying the stand but in reality probably same speed...

They do other sizes but only put the popular sizes that they keep in a high level of stock on their site. Call up Steve and he can take care of you

Check this out. I had this built locally for my 150g. Cost really depends on how far you want to go. I really went overboard and it took several months and ended up costing almost as much as the whole pnp would have.
