OK, I have read great things about the Midas Blenny and how much personality they have but I think I've got one that's scared of his own shadow. I put him in a 120g reef tank about 5 days ago. The only other fish in the tank were 2 royal grammas and a purple firefish. The second he went into the tank he shot for the back left corner and found a hole in the rock down at the sand line between the end of the tank and the overflow. Now all he does is swim up to the top of the tank and back down, rarely getting out past the edge of the overflow. He's eating just fine, as a matter of fact that is one of the few times he might come out past the overflow, just to crab a piece of food and swim back to his corner with lighting fast speed and efficiency. Is this normal for a midas blenny? Will he eventually get acclimated and swim around the whole tank or will he spend his entire life in the same 2 gallons of water?
