Schnitzels Dual Stage Co2 Reg build

I am not currently running CA reactor, but was running and have aquarium plants electronic regulator. I am up to 350 mils of 2 part per day so will be putting MRC large CA reactor online soon to keep up. For the interim I am about to start dosing saturated kalk through a reactor off a dosing pump. I am going to start with 3 gallons per day and see how that goes. I seem to notice better polyp extension in tanks that run kalk, I am plumbing the unit in today and plan on dosing just Rodi through reactor to make sure my system evaporates that much water before I add the magic powder.

Were you able to get that regulator ? I see you PMd the guy. That was a good setup for a good price.

I did get it, I was hoping it was a good deal

For a nice dual stage regulator with all the bells and whistles, sounds like a good deal to me. Took me quite a few hours of researching and finding all the parts. AND I Still need to put mine all together. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend.

I took the lazy way out and had someone who knows what their doing build me one. I already have a solenoid valve on my reactor so was able to save some money on the build. The control on these is incredibly precise.

Schnitzels Dual Stage Co2 Reg build

Did a test fit last night

Made a huge mistake. Long story short I ended up ruining the threads on the 1/4" nipple and the 1/4" x 1/8" 90*. Cost be $40 to get new parts. So ****ed!! Oh well. That's life. Hahah. Gunna bust out the Teflon when I get home and tighten everything down.

If anyone is wondering why I went brass on the needle valve, Ideal only makes that valve in brass. To get it chrome plated you would need to send it out, or make a special order with a minimum order amount. I talked to a couple guys, and they preferred the Ideal valve over the swagelok valve. Obviously a stainless swagelok would look way cleaner, but Im not gunna use a valve just because it looks better....even though I was tempted. Hahaha

So is this gonna make your CA tractor foolproof?

Makes adjusting co2 much easier. My old regulator was very sensitive. If I turned the needle valve 1/20th of a turn, bubble count could increase or decrease by 2-5 bubbles. It was extremely difficult to fine tune it. My new regulator takes 1/2-1 turn to adjust 1 bubble.
