I'm going to start adding video to this as we take it. Just want you to see what we're doing :) I've got about 10 more to add during the day.

Oh man...that is awesome...cant wait to see them with Fish! Let me know when I can swing by and check them out.

Well, the top 2 tanks on the first "station" will have more lights than the others. That is where we'll keep corals for just propogation. Since the bottom 2 tanks are attached to the same system, we'll keep filter feeders in there - they can use the supplemental feedings that the corals get. We'll have sponges, porcelain crabs, big feather dusters, scallops etc.

The other 4 systems will be relatively the same as far as lighting goes. We're going to have a couple tanks whose "theme" is arthropods (I have 2 different cool little lobsters to put in those), and we'll have gastropod themes, echinoderm themes, annelid themes, symbiotic themes, etc. The students' tanks that aren't reef safe can grow their corals in that first set of coral tanks I mentioned.

Just because a tank has a "theme", that doesn't have to be the only thing in the tank. An "echinoderm" tank might have sea urchins, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, but then students can put what compatible fish they want in it. I'll give them the "theme" critters and will also buy some fish. If they want more, they can buy it. Suprisingly, I have several parents willing to buy things for their child because they want to start up their own salt water tank at the end of the year, and if they buy it, they can keep it.

....and as far as coral, just softies probably until I can get ahold of DaddyJax's light donations and glyle's coral donations :) Then we'll see what we can pull off!!!

Here are the 2 tanks that I have some frags in that I'll give to the kids (*gasp*):

There's probably 8-10 types of zoanthids, some anthelia, some xenia and kenya trees. Several ricordia but I'm not sure I'll let them touch that...yet!

Man are you going to be busy :eek2: . Very nice looking tank - what are the brown disk liking livestock in the top picture in the center bottom? They look like very large Zoas.

I think they are green button polyps and pretty poisonous. I have to colonies of them. They get really big in that tank.

...and my STUDENTS will be busy...hopefully not me once these things are completed!! They'll do the fragging, water testing, water mixing, cleaning, maintenance etc. I'm sure it will be a bit chaotic this year, but hopefully we'll get it down pat and next year we'll start off from the beginning smooth (fingers crossed). Several students want us to make this a club so they can come in and play, I mean, work with the tanks after school.

But yes, I'm going to be busy and I can't wait!!

I have 2 and yes they do hide a bit. Actually they kind of hang out at the top and blend in so well that they aren't seen a lot.
