Has anyone had experience with these on big tanks??? Its rated up to 800 gallons but not sure if it would be big enough for me.... My system is 900 gallons roughly and composed of 40% SPS/LPS and 60% softies... Any thought???? Local guy has one for sale and I'm contemplating trying it out.

It'll work, but it will run more than one sized properly for your system. The larger chamers in a bigger unit allow for more contact over an equal time period.

It's like using an air conditioner made to cool an 800 sq foot room and cooling a 1000sq foot room, sure it'll do it, it just has to run longer to do it, cost you more to run it in the long run.

do you run one? Not really looking for speculations because tank ratings can be a bit inconsistant....looking for feedback from users....

Im guessing it would really come down to my demands, but the tank has only been running for 6 months and the corals are still relatively small. I have never run a calcium reactor in the past so it is hard for me to make a decision.

I do know that my calcium has been around 300 as of late, Alk has been 9dkh and my PH seems to stay around 7.9 pretty consistantly. Nee to come up with a solution for keeping my Ph up... Been dripping kalk into the tank but only small amounts at a time because I travel alot.

Smaller reactor would probably eat me up on CO2 huh??? The guy has a 5lb but I would probably need to get a 20lb or so..

So yours has to run 24/7? You running the Geo 618?

Is the goal to run the reactor as least as possible to save on Co2 and media but still keep up with Cal/Alk demands? If so which unit would you recommend?

It is a 618. It's been running a couple of months and I have not had to change out media or refill my co2(20lb), I don't anticipate needing to refill the co2 for at least another 6 months. The media will probably need refilled again in 3 months or so based on the current rate of consumption. I don't currently have a high demand for ca but I still maintain a 420 level.

142 views??? Not good . Well I went ahead and bought it. So I will see how it keeps up with everything. I plan on running the CO2 for about four hours a day and slowly creep it up more and more if /when needed.. If it doesnt keep up then I will just sell it and buy a bigger unit!

I have one! Its running on a system with about 725 gallons. It works fine. I run mine continuously, it consumes a 20# bottle of co2 in about 2.5-3 months and about 3 refills of media in the same time. I run the ph at about 6.3 and the flow is "brisk".
