Send them to the south...the rednecks love to eat anything that eats from the bottom. Can't they be given as food to a hunger.org type thing? Is it really worth the chance introducing the virus?

Catfish may be edibile, but for carp...

How to cook a carp so that it is suitable to eat:

1.) Catch the carp.
2.) Nail the carp to a plank and fill the inside of the carp with mud.
3.) Cut open the carp so that the mud falls out.
4.) Discard carp
5.) Eat the plank.

The carp in the rivers of Austraillia are not the typical Koi that we know. They are actually skum loving mud mongers that seem to have a great habit of suffocating native species. The same thing is happening in the Great Lakes with asian carp.

I have seen a number of carp for sale at live food fish markets. Somebody must be eating them.

I have seen many different types of carp eaten. Although I really like your recipe for carp I still don't eat anything that eats #$^& from the bottom of a water way. I'd rather eat oysters...eeww!
If they are edible in any way I still think it would be better to harvest them for a food source. It's got to be better than no food at all, I guess. I think a food donation would be better than taking a chance in a mutated virus that could possibly damage more than you bargin for.
