Hi everyone,
I am hosting the SCMAS workshop this Saturday at my home in Garden Grove. You do not have to be a member to attend.
It is a VERY informal "get-together" and requires no reservation, sign-up, or anything of that nature. It is simply a chance to meet local hobbiests, eat, learn a few things about the club, eat, learn how to build a few things, and....oh, and did I mentions eat? :D
refreshments will be provided but beer will a BYOB thing
(the host likes Sam Adams, but don't tell anyone...shhhhh!)

The subjects "tentatively" covered that day will be:
1) Water Barrel Mixing System (we will actually build a few, so if you have a 55-gallon barrel, bring it along.)
2) Acrylic Scratch Removal Procedures (presented by Laverda)
3) Auto Topoff Systems (Reservoir vs Solenoid)
4) Plumbing basics and tricks (using "non-standard" parts)
5) Home-made Calcium Reactor (presented by Marc Trimble)
6) Reefmeister Power station (if time permits)

Though this is not officially a frag swap, you are more than welcome to bring corals frags, etc. to sell and/or trade that day.
There are plenty of electrical outlets available and I will have extra saltwater handy.

As mentioned earlier, burgers, hotdogs, chips, sodas, etc. will be provided, so come hungry and ready chow down. (Thank you NicoleC for volunteering the food and grill duties) :)

If Anyone else wishes to volunteer to present a "subject of interest" that day, please contact me via PM so we can coordinate plans. We all appreciate the participation.
SHARE THE KNOWLEDGE! :reading:

Hope to see everyone there!
Kevin T. Adams (aka: Reefmeister2, and "The Lazy Reefkeeper")

The only way Im going to come is if I can check out your arsenal :) j/k

I dont think I have anything planned so Ill most likely be there...One question though:

Do you have freezer space available for my bottle of scotch?

Cold scotch = tasteless scotch. Cold makes anything have less taste, from cheap beer to ice cream. If it's cheap nasty scotch, that's a bonus, I guess. But keep your freezer away from my Glenmorangie, please. :D

There's nothing wrong with drinking a blended scotch neat, but, IMO, a good single malt *should* be slightly watered. Not drowned, just a dash of (filtered) water to release the bouquet.

Oops, major thread hijack. Now back to your regularly scheduled announcement.

And, yes, I bought hot links for the BBQ.

Maaan, you two are making me thirsty

Does Creme Soda count?

Yes Scotchmaster...I've got a spot in my freezer for you
BTW, Which Aresenal are you refering to? ;)
(nyuck!, nyuck!, nyuck!)

Also:
Whoever wants to bring Frags to sell/trade
PM me ahead of time and I will set you up with table space, bins, saltwater, lights, whatever you need. Just let me know
Kevin

I disagree but to each his own...Scotch tastes the same cold or warm but I prefer it cold....Ive never experienced less taste being cold....

Boy this sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm out of money and gas.
Maybe next time.

Duuuuuuude!
t'aint no money needed here!

Nichole's supplying the burgers, hotlinks, hotdogs, etc. for the BBQ....She's got enough meat to make a carnivore blush!

I'm supplying the venue, the refreshments, and a Meeeean-A_ _ rum punch that'll gettcha giddier than a gopher in soft dirt!

Not to mention a day of Reefmeister-ology 101 "I-don't-know-crap-but-I-can-show-ya-how-anyway" seminar :p

Now grab your honey, jump in your goony-goo-goo-mobile, drop a few bucks for gas and scream into Garden Grove this Saturday!

That's an ORDER, Private!
:D

Thanks Kevin for the invite I'll see what I can do.
Maybe all those rolled pennies will come in handy.

Yes, but will it fill all those hollow legs reefers walk around on?

Sounds like fun. Is Guiness allowed?

Hmmmmm, let me think about that one......

well, Ok.....

but only if the host gets to sample the inventory first.
I have to protect my guests from the possibility of spoiled beer.
I wouldn't want a guest to fall victim to such travesty...
It's a rough job, but someone's gotta do it! :o
