SCMAS Information Workshop and Barbeque Saturday, July 8 --- 12:00 noon - 5:00 PM

Unless Morgan comes, I'm probably it for raising clowns and culturing. I don't have a problem covering the basics if there's time, but Wilkerson's "Clownfishes" does a thorough job for beginning breeding.

Black and tans it is. Anyone know how to pour one though?
Irish style is just mixed. American style is layered, and you need a big spoon (preferrably one you don't mind bending out of shape and a lot of practice... which I don't have but you never know among this crew!

According to Guinness:

Hold your pint glass at an angle, and fill just over halfway with Bass Ale on tap.
Slow the flow control on the Draught Guinness tap down to a trickle.
Fill to the top, letting Draught Guinness hit the side of the glass
or...
Pour Draught Guinness over an upside-down spoon to disperse the flow.

Google is not jut a search engine, it's an artform...

And I would gladly trade the huge amounts of useless crap I remember for the ability to recall people's names.

I would agree with NicoleC, good alcohol MUST be consumed at room temperature. Anyway else would be like eating filet mignon with A1 steak sauce. :)

that explains why I can't drink anymore due to health reasons! hehe

Hi Everyone,
tomorrow is the big day!

Ok, I've acquired a number of 55-gallon barrels for the workshop project, as well as necessary parts for whoever wants to make either an RO water storage barrel, or a saltwater mixing barrel.

They will be offered on a "first-come-first-served" basis until we run out. If you wish to build a water/mixing barrel at the workshop, then I suggest you be here at noon to purchase/claim one.

Prices will range anywhere from $20 - $50, depending on the configuration you choose (there are a number of different parts/configurations possible)

Examples:

a $20 setup is simply a blue 55-gal. barrel, 1" slipxslip bulkhead fitting, 1" slip ballvalve, and 1" slip PVC elbow for the pourspout

a $50 setup includes a white 55-gal. barrel, threaded 1" bulkhead fitting, 1-1/4" threaded ballvalve, 1-1/4" Threaded PVC elbow/pour-spout, auto float valve, and 13-piece holesaw kit to take home.

There are various other possible configurations in-between.

There will of course be other topics covered tomorrow, but they will be demonstrations/discussions only, not actually building anything. A "show-and-tell" if you will.

Looking forward to seeing everyone :)

I have 3 healthy attached frags. I'll bring 'em and you can have one or all if no one else wants them.

Nice meeting everyone and a nice group. I plan on joining.

Special thanks to Kevin and his wife for hosting. I had a great time.

Joe

Again, thanks for setting up a great meet. Learned a lot and really dig the system you have going. RO DI is great for laundry, haha.

Thanks everyone,
I'm glad you could make it and had a good time.
I also hope you got a few ideas to take home with you, as that is what this workshop was all about; getting together to meet some new friends/acquaintances and to learn something new.
Sorry my reef was not looking as well as it should...I had just reorganized my rockwork two days earlier. (that's another story in itself)

Anyways, reef on!

Kevin
