scotts pet shop

the guy who constantly smelled of a combo of ciggarettes and coffee? If he is gone than i will reconsider scott's. but he P'd me and my gf off so badly that i vowed i wouldnt set foot in there again, regardless of gas prices.

But on another thing someone wrote: "Most of their stuff disappears within the 1st few days they get them in"
would you view this as a bad thing? I would like to see them eat and live a while first...keep in mind i am talking about the fish. the only inverts i received from them are shrimp and snails, and all were well. Would they hold fish for you to observe?

I can't find it right now but there was athread on here a few months back about Scott's. An employee chimed in from there and expressed their unwillingness to take customer feedback and pretty much summed up their thoughts towards their customers. They are definitely rude and for the most part not knowledgeable. For those of you who don't get why they get such a bad rap should try and do a search for the thread and maybe you will see spending your money in place that holds their customers in such low reguard may rethink doing business with them. They are at the bottom of the LFS list in livestock quality and quanity and undisputedly the poorest customer service anywhere... and Old Orchard Auarium a close second. IMO

i have no problem with the people at scotts.there are a few people who work there that dont have a clue and a few that do.most of my corals came from scotts.

I WOULDN'T BUY WATER FROM SCOTT'S IF I WAS ON FIRE!!!
That being said for quality frags and great prices see Sharky's Reef...Andrea and Dennis cannot be beat...the flow in their stock tanks just blew me away...their web-site is right on the money for color and quality and size is usually a little bigger than they state. GREAT customer service and a very friendly web-site.

the guy with the beard is boyd and hes been around forever he used to be at grand aquarium from when scott opened that when they were a small shop on north side of grand ave very long time ago i was kid when i went there then they opened the big store acroos the st.actually both scott and boyd are nice guys i used to frequent grand for many years.i think when scott opened scotts it turned more into a supermarket type pet shop.but boyd was always very knowlagble about fresh water and ponds.

It's not fair to compare Sharkysreef (which is easily one of the best places period) to Scotts. It is like comparing a T-Bone steak to ground beef :)

yea sharkys is great but hey dont dont deliver to me only fed ex pp how did you get them to do that

I'd like to know to....I want special treatment :D

as much money as ive spent there they should come put them in the tank for me lol actually there great people at sharkys always great stuff from them

Hey, T-bone and ground beef are the same animal right...you get what you pay for...in the case of Sharky's reef you get more...in the case of Scott's you get ZIP!!!

Thought I should jump in on this tread. Acropora nut, do I know you? I only know of a few customers who have a 500 sps tank. Anyway, Scott has decided to delve more deeply into corals and such. You guys have a point as to the corals not doing well over the long term, but we're trying to fix that. Not much I can do to cure the live rock any faster, so until then just gotta deal w/ it. And tunzes are on the way (thank god), tanks definitely need more flow.
Joe, the guy w/ the mermaid tatoos is gone :)

Chris

Yes, Boyd is still there and doing well. Acro nut, are you the guy w/ the lifted blue 350? If so, hows the superman doing?

if they have such a bad reputation for quality of fish and service do to lack of knowledge, what in the world makes them think they will be successful trying to keep animals that require more knowledge and time?

I wouldn't buy corals from there! Maybe instead of setting up a coral area they should hire someone to answer the phone!

I don't care if the coral was the size of a beach ball for $10. With their history it may die and wipe out my entire tank?

no thanks scotts
