scotts pet shop

hi guys.if you think you know more than me teach me, share reef secrets.,not to ask questions at the store and if its not right walk away.I would be more than glad to know your opinion.,your way of keeping reef.I do work on fridays at scotts and i am proud member of cmas and reef central.

Gee another negative Scotts thread. I cant imagine why with their brand of customer service. The thread about the phone never being answered really hit the nail on the head with these guys.

??? Negative stuff getting old. Seriously, if you havent been to the store lately, I suggest you take a drive and say hi. (Im the chinese guy w/ the tattoos). If customer service is the issue, ask Acropora nut. Ive been selling corals to him for the past few years, and to my knowledge they are doing well. The phone has always been a problem, but we try to answer it as often as we can. We have hired a new girl who is strictly there as a cashier and to answer the phone, but again if it gets busy, we may not get to your call. Scotts been trying to change things and he's been receptive to new ideas i.e. changing the three 210's back to SW w/ the addition of new MH lamps, weeding out bad employees??? If you have a beef about Scotts, you are welcome to your own opinion, but if you havent been there is a while, I suggest you stop in. He has been getting better quality live stock, especially large SPS corals. I dont thing you need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that an acro the size of small football for $99 is a good deal.

OK.....so I was thinking of dropping by to see if things really have changed....and then I read this.

langchin.....I'd like honest answers....Are there flatworms in the sps tank? If so, are/were you or other employees aware that they are there? IF someone is aware, are customers being informed that the tank is infested with FW?

The new sps tank, not the angle view doesnt have flat worms. Yes the angle view does. Been trying to combat them for awhile now. I recommend customers to dip new corals before introducing them to their own tank to eliminate the flat worms.

Since I am the one who brought the flat worms to the attention of RC most recently, I figured I would ask a few simple questions. You say you have been trying to cobat them for awhile? Why is this so? There is a very easy solution. Try 2 treatments of FWE and you will be done. Though with as many as you have in that tank, I would break it down completely and treat corals, rock and everything seperate. It will be toxic once they die.

Question 2: once you do get rid of the flat worms are you going to dip new incoming corals? Do you dip corals going into the "new" sps tank? Otherwise, it is only time till everything is infected. Are those tanks on the same system? There are still many factors to be answered to look out for your customers. By the way when I was in there looking at the sps corals in the angled tank, I asked a question about price and was DEFINATELY NOT told you recomend dipping those corals. I am sorry, but I don't believe you "point out" the flat worms 5to people.
