Scrapers

Decided last night to scrape the coraline off the front glass with a razor. Problem is my arm is barely long enough and I get a glove full of water at the bottom. Not to help but some of my corals are growing towards the glass and I don't want accidental fraggings. Any of the long scrapers sold work well for this? I know they have them at abc and I might pick one up to try. Man I forgot how nice the tank looks with the front glass clean.

Get a piece of thin pvc tubing and cut a diagonal slit on one end. Insert razor blade and you have a scraper of whatever length you like. Also, I use a rubber band at the wrist of my gloves to keep them from filling up with water.

I love the Red and Black Kent plastic scrapers. However, I have only had to use them in difficult to reach corners since I bought Algae Cutter Sleves from Mighty Magnets.

By far the best investment we ever made. We keep them right on our normal cleaner magnets. It used to take me about 2 hours a week to clean all the coraline off the glass of our big tank, now it takes about 2 minutes.

I use the shoulder length gloves with th breather hole at the top. That's where the water comes in.

EZ Blade... one of the best reef investments I've ever made, and I don't miss those Kent scrapers!

Do they make them small enough to attach to a mag float 125? Most online stores I only see them for the 350.

Don't know Chris. It would be worth your while to pick them both up. Gary bragged about his for a long time. I kept dropping razor blades behind the rocks and soaking my shirt sleeves. FINALLY I bought the EZ. Honestly don't know how I lived without it.
Do yourself a favor.

I use a piece of CPVC with a diagonal slit on one end. An old toothbrush is jammed in the opposite end makes a cheap and effective double-headed cleaning tool.

They look awesome.... but how do you get at the back glass? I can't reach my arm behind my tank and Inspector Gadget is in an old folks home now, so he's no help.

I have ended up with 4 mag float 125's, so one of the sets I have taped the outside magnet to a yard stick. It allows me to get the back glass all the way across the tank, and theres only like 3-4 inches between wall and tank.

Now there's an idea.

Now there's an idea.

To Do List

1. Buy new EZ Scraper
2. Attach a yard stick to EZ Scraper
3. Scrape the back glass with ease
4. Sit in chair
5. Open beer
6. Admire clean fish tank
7. Repeat 5 and 6 till passing out

The EZ Blade only attaches to the large MagFloat; I too had to buy a new magnet. Mike... sounds like my Sunday nights! :D

I like the coraline algae on the glass but man I forgot how nice a clean back can look. The ez blade was a great investment. Got the best price for the mag float 350 and ez blade at premium aquatics. 2 days ground shipping isn't bad either.
